Black Jack Basics – Part One

[ English ]

The basic concept of the card game is to be dealt cards adding up to twenty-one. Every black jack player is dealt 2 cards. When a black jack player is dealt a 9 or lower value card and an Ace they’ve been given a soft hand. When the gambler is dealt no Ace it is referred to as a hard hand. Once the cards have been dealt every player at the blackjack table, which includes the dealer, every blackjack player is given the opportunity to make 1 of six actions:

Taking another card (Hit): When a blackjack player says "hit" the dealer will deal them another card, if the adding of that card makes the total greater than twenty one the blackjack player will have lost and that’s the end of the game, if the card pushes the value of the hand to 21 the black jack player wins and if the value of the hand hasn’t yet reached twenty-one they’re still in the game.

Keeping the hand you’ve been dealt: If a blackjack player is happy with the hand they’ll stand. Once this has happened the croupier will show his/her hand and the player who has accumulated twenty one or the nearest to twenty one will win.

Doubling Down: A player may ask to double down which doubles the wager they have made. Once you have taken this procedure you can only receive 1 additional card. The details of doubling down are often out lined by the table or betting house rules so prior to competing make certain you are comfortable with the house established rules. If you’re wagering at a web casino this is normally very simple.
